I filmed the Scottish Student Trampolining League One Competition at St Andrews University from start to finish, spending the day capturing competition highlights, athlete moments and the general atmosphere of the event. Alongside the documentary-style coverage, I also shot a series of interview-style TikToks with participants on the day, giving the organisation short-form content ready to go alongside the main edit.
Once the day was done, I cut everything together into a short-form video, which was posted to the organisation's Instagram channel and received praise directly from their leader. I also handed over all the additional footage and stills from the day, giving them a library of material to draw on for future content.
Working alone across a full-day event without a crew or a detailed brief meant making quick decisions about where to be and what was worth capturing, which is something I find comes naturally in a live environment.
